2 today, Cotton and Pearl as usual. I realized/ decided that the medium brown colored egg I get a couple times a week is from my 5 1/2 year old Black Australorp, Ethel.

I broke down bought a heated waterer. One coop I have the tin can heater, which works great the other I had a bucket with horizontal nipples. The tin can wont work there.

My momma duck kicked out 5 of her eggs this morning

Temp calm winds mid 60's all day and when I got home this morning at 2AM the temp was 61F degrees and no I did not intend to be up this early or getting home this late

7 Fahrenheit this morning, 10 degrees colder than yesterday. Coldest so far this season. Didn't go over 28 yesterday.
Had to replace galvanized pail

under coop with a 2 quart rubber bowl

from TSC. Water in coop was lukewarm this morning, yea.

Yeah 28 for a low in December, I'll take it. I'd like to move down your way, one of the Carolinas or Tennessee in the mountainous region, sometime in the future. GC
