How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

Zero have not gotten an egg out of 11 hens in 3 weeks

@karenerwin suggested more protein. When we want to get a few eggs in the winter, we feed the hens a daily ration of sprouted red wheat or oats, even a tray of cooked oatmeal helps to get them laying. You might try that as well. I still think a camera to eliminate or prove the idea of an egg thief should be considered.

8 eggs today. We still have a few hens trying to go broody, but we are not letting them sit on eggs at this time. Things are so much quieter now without the alpha roo, Killer Joe. The whole chicken yard seems more relaxed and it is a joy for us to work in again without our head on a swivel. King George, the Coronation Sussex roo is very gentle and the hens love him, so I guess he gets to rule the roost now.

3 soft shells in one day? That is really unusual. I assume you have oyster shell in a separate container that they have access to all the time?
Yes! I sure do. I could be wrong - could have been multiple girls. But it was over night. We came into the coop yesterday morning with them on the floor. But only the membranes were there. She hadn’t laid since Sunday which I figured was normal since she just started laying. I’m thinking her body is just working through new layer problems. I hope at least...

that seems more an issue than a broody going back to laying
