How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

Found out why they didn't lay in the nest. They found a pile of hay and laid there. I now have hem laying inside their coop nest.

mine prefer the hazelnut bushes

@penny1960, thank you for the prayers. She’s 60, so young to be facing the end. However, she’s lived a great life and for now, we’re soaking up every minute we have.

I forgot to pull the broody tonight. I tried to grab her earlier but she got out and then “tut tut” all over the yard and I couldn’t get her. Her little noise is adorable. Then I was too tired to pull her tonight. Tomorrow! I’ll do it tomorrow. I ended up with 11 eggs. 1 jello egg though so 10 we’ll eat.

they can be sneaky little brats

6 eggs today. But I did have 2 chicks hatch last night in the incubator! Going to try to slip them under Momma hen tonight.

Edited to say that Momma hen accepted both of them with no problem even though she already had a 1 week old chick. This morning after I let them all out, Momma hen had all 3 chicks outside and was showing them how to scratch for food and they were responding to her same as the 1 week old chick!:celebrate:love

Collected 10 eggs. Checked on the broody in the new broody box my hubby made a couple of days ago. I could see the head of a dead chick sticking out from under her. When I got that poor little guy out from under her, I saw that she has at least 2 dry, fluffy chicks tucked up under her!!

Edited to add weather update. It was a beautiful day here today! The high was 83 degrees F and there was a nice breeze!!

Um, this is late but timely post...
July 6 got 14... 2 from my 2 virgin layers, and 12 fertile ones that were added to my adoption take-away.

The photos are with and without flash.

And I don't have an incubator for them yet!
