Unless they are different in the US Black Copper Marans are clean legged - they are they ones that lay the very dark chocolate coloured eggs.

Havent checked yet this morning as Clemantine was on the nest and didnt want to disturb her.

I think they are actually pretty good in the heat (but also in the cold) from what I remember reading when I was doing my research - it gets pretty hot in the south of France too! I have 2 amongst my chicks not sure if roo or pullet yet though! Just generally a hardy heirloom breed.

I kinda liked it the first way, all of my chickens are beggars! Anytime I go out they come running just in case I brought something.
