How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

I got 9 eggs yesterday and a new chick hatched in the incubator. I was going to slip it under the one broody that hasn't hatched any chicks, but in the afternoon she was off her nest. In the evening I moved her and the nest to the broody box. She seemed fine with it, but when I went out an hour later to slip the chick under her she was back off the nest. Apparently she was NOT happy with me for moving her and her nest!
So I slipped the chick under the Momma that had 4 chicks of various ages. This morning, all seems to be good, except with the hen whose nest I moved.

I had four eggs this morning! We have five and patiently wait to be surprised with 5 eggs one afternoon. They all seem to lay between 9-11am. It so amazing what these chickens can do! This is our first time raising a backyard flock. :wee

Even us that where around them as children have a glee in these prehistoric creatures
as we have gotten older and have our own flocks... many of us thought we would start with 4 or 6 I have all inclusive have about 30 now :old:wee

I found my first egg this morning (but my wife thinks it was laid the evening before last because she heard one of the girls making an odd noise) and this afternoon I found two more. They are all the size of a golfball. I know this because I "salted" the nest boxes with golfballs... kinda wish I'd used baseballs! LOL
I have 11 girls, but I can narrow the layer down to either or both of the two leghorns I have as they are the only white egg birds I have, and all three eggs were white.

What do you do with that many eggs? That’s a ton of eggs!

Gave 5 dozen to our local food bank, boil them for our dogs and make breakfast for dinner .. Welcome to the egg thread
