How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

Inside bathroom? You actually have an outhouse? Never seen one before, that is so cool.
No not an outhouse (although the farm I grew up on in Oz had the most amazing one of those at the shearers quarters looking out over the rive and hills - best view in the world for a poo :lau:lau ). I probably make it sound worse than it is (OK it is pretty crap in the winter!) but we are mid renovation (not all our work!) of a hundreds of years old barn. We have bought an amazing old barn renovation (30m long all solid stone building). The people we bought it off were really odd (from our own observations and the neighbours / villagers!) and did some strange stuff - most notably having a bathroom in a lovely stone lean too on the back of the house. it is only maybe 8 steps from the back door into there - sadly the only place (due to the layout of the bathroom - shower / basin / toilet) that a door could go is right where they put the stairs :barnie:barnieso can't knock through! Long term we'll be doing at minimun a verandah over the whole back terrace area so it is always at least a dry walk to that bathroom and installing (as soon as I can get dh motivated!) the new upstairs bathroom. If we have room I'll also do an ensuite upstairs off our future bedroom. Bonus of the outside one is that we live outside for about 5 months a year so it is great then! We do get pretty cold over winter but we've only had a small dusting of snow the 3 winters we've been here so not like we live in Northern USA / Canada or something like that!

I love how you speak of the home you choose would love to see photos one day
This is the northern end - the bit we live in:

This is the middle section - and the oldest not exatcly sure but the stone stairs / sink etc suggest could be medieval in origin. We are currently renovating this bit to make a small holiday rental:

At the southern end is what we call our big barn and little barn. Looks are deceptive as to how big this is - on the big door my head comes up to about where there is a cross peice of wood:

Last year we also bought the wooden tobacco drying barn behind us with a bit of extra land I'll try to find pics of that later.

Not checked eggs, was too early when I let them out!

Back to 9 again today after only 7 yesterday. The weather has been cold here so I am guessing that the girls are having issues with the adjustment from warm 80’s-90’s to the rainy 40’s-50’s.

Of course my Favaucana has not laid for a few days and pretends to be broody off and on. I don’t think she is cut out for motherhood as she gives up pretty easily once I shoo her off the nest or put her on the roost at night.

And the new BCM hasn’t laid again yet that I have found. I will have to watch her carefully when I let them out to free range and see if she is laying in secret.

Yep, the 2 silkies that went broody again I bought a mix of marans and cream legbar eggs that they are on.
Boy is someone good at chicken math!

 And I bet you aren't just 3' tall.

and the oldest not exactly sure but the stone stairs / sink etc suggest could be medieval in origin
Sink as in plumbing? I don't believe people had sinks of any sort back then, only portable basins. Maybe a retrofit into a medieval structure?
