Oh wow that is sooooo pretty! And cold! I can't imagine doing all the chicken chores in that sort of snow! The only time I've lived with that was while running a ski chalet in the Dolomites in Italy! Fab that they are still laying so well for you too!

5,2,4 the last few days. Still dark this morning!

Yep chicken chores is slightly challenging since the coop is 100 ft from our house where the water source for their drinks. Since all the faucets outside are shutdown or frozen when it’s that cold. But I don’t mind carrying (4 waterers) 11.37 liters each to and pro. Though a friend of mine slipped on ice and fell while taking water to the coop and broke his arm and shoulder.

I think most that are laying are ages 5-9 months old, the older ones are on winter breaks.

Nasty! I have a steep bit on the way to my coop and I've fallen twice (or possibly 3 or 4) now properly and slipped a good few times more than that. Really should see about getting a step or two in there!

4 today!

Last night was cold out, 2*F, tonite will be -4*F Road was bad on the way to work. Schools called for snow day.

17 Eggs yesterday and 20 Today. Some were laid on the coop floor, not sure if my hens got disoriented with the cold or new layers just pop them out on the floor.
I have a hen who almost ALWAYS lays on the coop floor, and she's almost 2 years old! :p Then again, she's also a dual purpose barnyard mix with the personality of a meat bird and the egg production of a Leghorn!! So she's a STUPID chicken, but she's also one of my best layers! Hah! :idunno

I have one that lays where the wire had pulled away by the pony wall at my pop door
should restaple the wire it is also a weak spot in the coop but she likes laying there knock on wood has not had a predator attack since day one of me having chickens here
only did get three since I brought the old gal out to do her foot .. she did fine with the treatment and is back in the coop no swelling birds all got over anxious though
