How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

I’m afraid one of my roosters got the same thing from being in the run yesterday. It’s been subzeros here even the high haven’t reach single digits. I guess today will be high of 6*

A lot of times they get frostbite because we make them stay inside and we have a well enclosed coop. This, unfortunately, traps the excess moisture that they generate. This moisture then gets on their combs and freezes causing frostbite! We actually need our coops to be better ventilated!! But it is counter to what we think about when we think of housing.

5 today counting the one Veronica laid off the roost. It broke when I tried to rake it out. Betty laid hers in the hay on the floor under the ladder in the feed room. It is a bit of a stretch. The other 3 properly laid in the enclosed nest box.

Not got any eggs yet but freezing and gorgeous frost - it is my birthday so I'm just thrilled to have a lovely sunny, cold crisp day! We are going to head out to lunch child free so looking forward to that! Your warmer weather must be heading across the oceans - I've just looked and our temps are due to go right up (17c next week!).

Happy Birthday @PouleChick !! I hope you had a fabulous day!!:wee:celebrate

Wow, I missed a lot in the few days I didn't check in.:frow I got 10 eggs today. We have had a lot of rain and the chicken yards are a quagmire! I didn't even let one coop out yesterday because I didn't want to slosh through the mud! I did let everyone out today. The temps have dropped again here now, so the ground is frozen. Which is actually nice, because I'm not sinking in mud.
Plus, I have a hole or crack in the bottom of my muck boots and my socks get wet when I go out in all the rain!:lau:lau
