How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

They sound amazing!! Maybe the aggression thing was towards other birds not people?? Are they mean to other birds at all?? I used to want guineas but I’ve heard they’re extremely loud lol
They aren't mean towards any of my birds but they were raised from day old chicks here in their flock with lots of other chicks.

It seems you guys have all had great experiences with them and they seem like fantastic birds so I’m not really sure where I got the mean thing from or why I decided I didn’t like them much... I don’t think I ever gave them a fair chance.

Guess they’re back on the list! LOL
Don’t feel bad. Marans get that rap sometimes. Some call them flighty too. It depends on the breeding and even more importantly how they are raised. Handle them as chicks, please! Clip their wings if they try to escape. Talk nicely to them when you treat wounds or parasites, and definitely when you take guarded eggs, they are medium-broody, but not compulsive or obnoxious about it. Middle-order usually. They were bred partly from feral swamp fowl and Malaysian sailor’s birds, and were used in their distant past for fighting. They are kind of like France’s answer to the Orpington or Sussex. As for eggs, I get between 3 and 5 per week each out of 3 hens. Roos can flesh out beautifully too, mine makes my mouth water except I love him too much! 🤪

I love their feathered legs & feet too, but that's part of their dirty egg issue, their feet get muddier!
