That's a big egg!
I think I remember that one time, back in my first year of keeping chickens, one of my hens laid a big soft-shelled egg. I don't keep the soft ones, so I tossed it -- and it had another egg inside!
And then there was that accident with a massive egg that I dropped on the floor... yuck. The thing had two yolks, I believe. Crack -- butterfingers!
Anyway, four eggs thus far today. Marshmallow might be taking a day, the cute little industrious hen.

6 today! Not 1 in the nest boxes!I bought a 6 pack of egg-shaped chalk at Dollar Tree to use as fake eggs for training. I hope it works! I also put a cat taxi in there to see if anyone wanted to sit eggs in it. 2 laid, but no brooding. I guess I’m just not gonna hatch my own this year.

The ones with the black cross on them are today’s. Red S was yesterday.

20! New record!
I have 15 one year old girls. 7 are standard, the rest are bantam (mostly Cochin and OEGB)
There are 8 standard pullets (6-7 months). And four bantam.
So layers and "better start soon layers" total 31, subtract the three broody girls- 28.
i think 20 out of 28 is pretty good as some may not be laying yet and the Buttercups are slackers.

I haven't been counting. I know it is enough I can share with my neighbors if they need some.
