How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

I have bakers dozen 13 plus 2 silkie now I did give one silky 4 eggs to sit on she seems to be doing that

Only 2 today but yesterday I got 5. Out of 14 females. 8 are hens, one hasn’t laid in 18 months and 2 others I’m not sure if they are taking turns or only 1 is laying. 6 are pullets that just got red combs so should start any day now.

11, kind of. One of my Marans did the weirdest thing, she laid an egg around 6pm on the outdoor roost in the yard! It looked like she was TRYING to break it, and she did succeed. I know when she laid it because it was still warm when I found it. I’m not ashamed to say, I scooped it up in my fingers and ate it raw. Marans eggs are THAT tasty! I also broke one putting them in the fridge, so I only had 9 to add to a client’s order.

13 eggs were laid today.
1 was eaten in the nest and in the other coop 1 was cracked in the nest. I tossed it out for the chickens. I also found 3 my hubby had noticed a day or so ago in the spare yellow coop ( where I put chickens that are going to be butchered soon). They had been in there a long, long time! 2 were partly broken and stinky the other one was stuck to the nest box floor and kind of broke when I forced it loose. I tossed all 3 of those out to the chickens too. I do know how they got there. The coop door had warped over the winter so it was left open. I remember seeing hens in there when they were out wandering in that part of the yard. I guess they decided it was a nice quiet place to lay eggs. I imagine that they were disappointed after my hubby fixed the door and I left it shut.

When I had 3rd degree burns way back when I was 18 years old, the hospital made us eat raw eggs to help our skin grow back. We liked them blended into milkshakes!!

Milkshakes? Oh man, Marans eggs would be SO good that way!! I made eggnog with them for Christmas, and they were so stiff and frothy,

4-5 raw eggs go into my protein shake every morning.

5 again today with another softie on the poop board , I think the softie is from the same bird as yesterdays . She seems a little off today , gonna have to keep an eye on her .
