How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

I washed some eggs and did an egg photoshoot today.

I have 17 chickens.
Two roosters.
Four 12-week old chicks
Four pullets (3/4 are now laying)
Eight hens, all but one molted. The remaining hen raised the 12 chicks and surprised me by started to lay again about two weeks ago! Another hen has stopped laying due to age.

So I have four active layers. I haven’t collected eggs today but yesterday I collected three. I have yet to have four in one day.

After a bear attack in August which trigger a few girls to molt, and killed two of my hens, I haven’t really gotten more than 4 eggs a day basically all summer I BUY eggs from my neighbor!

Why are you washing them takes the bloom off ?

I sell eggs, so I wash them for most of my customers.

Wipe some soil off but do not wash all of them they do last longer

7 eggs today. My daughter stopped by and picked up a dozen for deviled eggs on the 19th (early Thanksgiving dinner). A friend was also able to stop by and pick up a dozen for her elderly mother in law who isn't eating much, but will eat my fresh eggs!

My daughter came by today and picked up a dozen, too. She's going to freeze dry a bunch.

Yay! I started getting 6/day. Today just 4.

One, but this was from my only laying age hen who is bouncing back from a hard 18 month molt. It's been 2 months since she last layed and I'm handling the eggs like they were made of gold!
