How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

Only 1 today. Our 3rd little green EE egg. The silly little pullets are scratching all the hay out of the nests. Maybe they think it needs to be changed out. Their wish is my command I suppose. They got fresh hay in all 4 nests. No excuse to hold on to those eggs now!
I usually find scratched up nests right before I get a new layer. It’s like they want to get it just right before they start.

I got 11 eggs from 13 hens today. One of the EE's didn't lay and another hen, not sure who.

We get either 11-12 or 13 every day. We do keep a light on in the coop -- thinking of cutting back the hours from 10 to about half. Wondering if that would cut egg production in half? That's fine, except we've been donating about 6 dozen to a local food bank each week and I want to continue doing that. :wee :love🥚🐔 Love my girls!

8 out of 9! I finally got a solid egg out of the girl that’s been laying soft shells. We’ve got over 3 dozen in the fridge now, I don’t know what we’re going to do once my 7 19 week old pullets start laying.

Suggestion: talk to your local food bank and see if they'll take some every week. I was so happy to learn that my local food bank really wants them to pass out with all the boxed foods they hand out. Nice to know they're going to people who will enjoy and appreciate!

TEN eggs today. Plus one broken in the nest box. It didn’t seem to be eaten, so I’m hoping it happened as the chicken was leaving or had already left the box.
they’re so pretty. One day the Easter eggers will lay some eggs...

So far we’re gifting extras to neighbors and relatives. I’ll look into that if we get truly overwhelmed.

My 2 cracked eggs were from them dropping the eggs onto the wooden box. They had moved so much straw around that it left the floor bare. Only reason I know this is because I was there when the 2nd one was laid (dropped). I haven't had that problem after putting rubber shelf liners on the bottoms, underneath the straw.
