I started out with 4 ( 3 RIR 1 EE) pullets from TSC 1 RIR died at 2 weeks old from unknown causes and the EE died at 4 weeks old because of a raccoon. At the time I had a meat hen and I had to take her friend away so I got some chicks because meaties do not lay eggs and she didn't like the chicks so the chicks slept in a dog crate outside inside a fenced-in area and I had some areas in my fence where a raccoon could fit threw and it killed the poor thing. RIP Easter the EE and Red the RIRGive her time she will lay. I will ask how many birds do you have Please?
i have 2 but I would've had 4 if all these things didn't happen but the chicks were in a dog crate without a wire so it was very easy for the raccoon to get the chicks out but I didn't think anything would happen because I had never seen a raccoon but my parents said there was one every night in our garbage can but I never believed themSo Please do you have more than one. Birds are social creatures. The only wire safe is hardware cloth they cannot reach through it
this is the coop that have, I regret buying it and I wish I would've spent the 300 on building one myselfSo Please do you have more than one. Birds are social creatures. The only wire safe is hardware cloth they cannot reach through it
14 and 1/2 eggs out of 25 hens and pullets.
