How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

Every once in a while the girls will sort of synch up and all want to lay the eggs at the same time. Some of them are in and out of there pretty quick, others take their sweet time. But it's kind of funny seeing 4 of them shoving and angling for the left corner in the egg laying area. Usually one of them will get pushed out and have to wait until the other girls are done before she can go do her thing. Then there will be one up in there and one down below looking in saying will you HURRY UP, I need to lay too! The pecking order I guess you could call it for laying eggs is rather entertaining at times.

I have had that issue as well, they want to sleep in the nesting box and it's full of poop the next morning. A few times I have gone out after dark and thrown them out of the box, and eventually I took an old pillow I didn't use anymore and just shoved it in there near night time to fill in the box so they could not get into it, then in the morning when I clean the poop out of the main area and feed them, take the pillow out so they can get in to lay their eggs. Generally only takes a few days of this and they get the idea to sleep on the roost.
