How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

@Ascholten Sounds like maybe a new layer? It takes a while for the factory to settle into "normal".
A few of them are new layers, one was a longer wait till maturity so one for sure, 2 others sort of. But thing is, 3 of them are yearlings we will call them, and mama is probably going on 3 or so years now. Out of the 3 newest, one is into normal mode, the other, big small, big small the eggs vary, the third, supposed to lay big eggs but mostly small ones so far, Ill give her some extra month or three, she's the slow maturing one anyways. I forget what she was Ill have to ask again where I got her from but she's pitch black with a bit of violet / purple in the feathers and bright red comb and waddle. She's also a sweetie, loves attention and comes up for a petting / grab up and snuggle on a daily basis. Sorry, im a softie when it comes to birds.

I tease my birds, .. oh god listen to me, like they actually can understand... but love them all, and big or small eggs, it dont matter, I want all of them to be safe happy and healthy.

Well.. the cockatoo, he DOES understand a lot. He knows when im mad, what NO is, (but will purposely do stuff he knows he'll get his ass swatted for when he's mad at me, to get even...and attention), When I say snack, or out, or what's wrong, he can tell me, hungry, cold, or just kind of whine and put his head in my arm / elbow when he wants attention :)

The other day, he was screaming and yelling BAD BIRD!! I came down stairs and was wondering WTF? Paco, what is bad bird?, he was flapping and later I guess I kind of figured out, pointing to the back sliding glass window he points by sticking his head unmistakeable in one direction and flapping his wings, saying BAD BIRD!! and doing his warbling thing. I looked outside and seen the chickens were on the porch looking into the door glass and well, just being chickens poking around and stuff. I didn't give it much thought, ruffled and pet paco a bit and put him back in, and went outside. The chickens were there I stomped my foot and said, SHOO!! waved my arms, and threw something rather harmless at them. to chase them away. The young ones took off, but of course Big Red stood there giving me that chicken look, i swished at her and said, GO!!! OFF THE PORCH> dammit, you know better BAD BIRD!! and shooed her again at which point she took off. It then dawned on me.. Paco hears me say bad bird when they are on the porch, so seen them on the porch, and started saying bad bird to rat them out....

I dont care what people say, birds are just as smart as humans in some ways I think.

I just DM'd the guy I got my chickens from. Charlies Chicks and he said osterlorp so that's the one. They are also slower developing as for when they start laying eggs too I remember him saying too. They are also pretty HUGE, heavy birds. I mean wow, they could double as a meat bird too if one wanted.
