How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

Quote:
did you get your 11 other golden comets. and was wondering if you made your coop bigger for all 30. or do they roost in the run at night. i have 6, 1 yr old comets they are great . and 18 total birds and plan on getting more layers soon. as i too sell all my eggs cant keep up with the customers lol. im just debating how crowded mine would be with 30 birds in my 10x12 coop in the winter when they dont go out on bad days.

We get them next Saturday. In the meanwhile I've expanded the roosting area in my coop by hanging the nesting box onto the back of the coop and making the three roosting bars go completely across the interior of the coop. When I did that I replaced the round 1-1/2 inch dowels I was using with 2x2's so the Gals won't have to grab and hold onto the roost like they were doing. A little less stressfull I understand. Our 19 GC's pretty much took up half the coop when they roosted on the three bars before so adding another 11 pullets to the flock shouldn't be a problem. I also ordered a load of creek sand to add to the run. The Gals have been scratching up the small gravel that was layed out on the bottom before we added 3 inches of sand when the run was put into place. I'm going to take some of the old sand and put it on my garden where my potatoes will be going. It'll help break up some of that old yellow clay out there and add a lot of nutrients with the rotted in poop.

I didn't get to collect the eggs yesterday except in the morning time and got 7 then but today I got to collect yesterday evenings and todays and brought in 56 so that was a total of 63 in two days for my 34 girls oh and fed one to the dog that had cracked so 64 all together . So that averages out to 32 eggs a day from my 34 hens. Oh and this was a bonus my 15 MONTH old Bob White Quail layed her first egg ever today! She was only !! months overdue, thought sure she would die an old eggless lady.`now to see if can hatch some little babies out that would be fantastic,
