Well, I guess I got my comeuppence coming to me, especially after bragging all winter long about how many eggs my Gals were laying every day. Well, the molt does seem to be starting for at least the first six of our flock. Yesterday we got 14 eggs from our 19 GC's. And that was after I built them a lovely nesting box. What graditude! But then again this Saturday we get our 11 new 18-week old started pullet GC's from Shooks and you can bet that will put the angst in the henhouse! My guess is that they will stop laying all together until they get the pecking order sorted out.
And on top of this I have to go into work and tell the Cubicle Rats that their food supply is being interrupted. Maybe I'll just stop by WallyWorld each morning and pick up a couple dozen of their cheapo brown eggs and pawn them off as my fresh free-range organics. I doubt they'd notice...
