Weather turned this weekend. Looks like someone exploded a feather duster in the coop last night. 1 egg under the roost. Might get another later.

16 eggs/ 33 hens. The molt and dwindling daylight hours are killing production, and somehow I now have back-to-back egg orders. Where were these darn people all summer when I was giving away eggs because I had so many and not enough buyers?!

Eight. Four would be about right for me. When I bought the chicks this spring I was buying that many for "insurance". Figured it was possible I'd lose a couple as they were growing up. But no, they all survived and are healthy!

Good job!

When my straight run 10 chicks only had three females I ordered 5 sexed female chicks. Those wound up to be 4 girls, for a total 7:2 ratio once the excess cockerels were rehomed. I'm getting 2 eggs most days, enough for us and I bring some into work, too.
