4 brown,
2 green,
2 chocolate. (I have one French Black Copper Marans and one Blue Copper Marans. The BCM egg is a little lighter than the FBCM egg).

I have 14 girls, got 10 out of 12 that are laying have 2 that have not started. Yesterday 9 so we are happy with that!

Last month I dropped an egg on the floor, thick shavings protected it from breaking.

Poor Larry is back to laying eggs, unfortunately they are all shell-less or extremely brittle, I have started giving her 1/2 a calcium tablet every other night in the hopes this will 1) help her with laying eggs, 2) maybe increase the shell density

Has anyone tried this with their hens?

Had to do this w a hen last year (she’s since passed, unrelated to egg issues). I gave her a tab every night for a week, and saw an immediate change in egg thickness. I realized she was a glutton for kitchen scraps, and would eat them instead of the feed. When I switched to giving scraps in the afternoon, she had no more problems.

Yes, it has helped 2 of my hens. I give the whole thing daily. One of them I had to break it up and hide it in a treat.
