I just got back in from checking in on the girls - 9 today.
My poor molter got a good douse of Blu-Kote since her friends decided to peck out some of the pin feathers on her nape. She now looks like she's wearing a gorgeous blue shawl.

I got 0 today too but I am fine with that as the girls need a rest and I have quite a stockpile for when they stop laying. I am shocked that they laid this long and I hope when it gets warmer next week they don't lay any.

Mei managed to lay today! This is the only egg she gave me all week. I told her I would treasure it

Oh wow! We got about a foot here - my chickens are not impressed! Most of my Orillia family are older & not likely to make it to Barrie.
I had 2 eggs for breakfast & my pullet laid another egg, so now I have 2 left in the fridge
On the bright side, a friend has a bigger chicken farm and I can always buy a dozen of his eggs instead of storebought. I may have to do that this weekend.

It's fortunate they didn't freeze - My dog got the one that froze last week in that extreme cold. He was thrilled

I was surprised the eggs I found yesterday weren’t froze!

I must be in the Goldie Locks zone, I got about 2” of snow and then rain, which of course froze like cement.

Today my mum ran out and grabbed eggs she could find, I found 2 that were again up top of the straw pile, very cold but not froze! I found another 2 up on the other stack of straw bales - that made 17 eggs today.

Have a client taking 8 dozen tomorrow and I’ll give a coworker a dozen so that takes care of 9 dozen- of course I added 2 more dozen to the fridge today hahaha. Getting tight in the fridge! 15 dozen in there right now!

There were 7 nice eggs waiting for me to pick up at 8:30 this morning. The girls' work for the day is done!

I opened up the outside wall of the coop and let them into their day run for the first time in around 2 weeks. Gave them a few bunches of curly leaf kale and some cabbage trimmings too.

Do you usually get some snow? Or is snow an anomaly for you.

The ladies graced us with 9 today. It was a tad chilly today for their southern selves so they got warm oatmeal for their treat today plus some chopped up hard boiled eggs for some protein for the poor out of season molter.

Oh dear l have been having put of season moulters also here poor things, my silkie had to spend a month in my feedroom/office where it’s heated. She was bald!

I think she is back to laying again, I found one a few days ago she laid.
