One from Big Mama, I'm fairly certain, and the other, well, not really sure
But between the heat and stress of strange schedules for us and the chickens, I'd expected nothing for a few weeks! Very pleasant surprise to go out and see eggs! Now if they'd just lay in the nesting box consistently, so I don't hafta crawl into the tractor to reach the eggs
25 Today from our 30 GC's!!! As a reward they got all the watermelon rinds they could feast on tonight as we sat out in the backyard watching Chicken TV and spitting seeds at them. By the time they went in and I locked them up the rinds were nothing more than thin pieces of green vinyl. No white rind was left, just the green rind.
1 egg out of 12 pullets. My first pullet (now a hen) just layed a couple of days ago. Most all of my pullets are squatting, and have big red combs and waddles. They should be laying soon!!!
The first of the 6 Sex Links started laying on the 14th. Yesterday there was another larger egg so think another started laying...Dolly (first to lay) did not lay yesterday...she and Goldie are still laying smaller eggs. Today there was another larger egg...not sure who laid it but I don't think Lucille is laying yet...she does not do the squat for me like the other 5. Rita started laying a couple of days ago.
We had scrambled eggs the other morning...delicious! The shells are very thick and the yolks are a good color. The girls are doing a good job, although Dolly still gets very excited and takes hours to get the egg laid! Today she kept getting in the nest box with Goldie and getting on her back...poor thing could not concentrate on getting her egg laid!
