How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

Thank you! It’s rough when the flock is small to start with. I think they are happier with at least 6 or 7 members.
That’s what I was thinking too. Having just three in my flock now seems too few, though they seem to be bonding together a bit more than before. Juin seems to be more accepted now by the Marans, which is nice.

I raised my chicks in the house last year and it was a real pain. Very messy too! From now on any chicks I get will be brooded outdoors. LOL

I loved raising my chicks indoors. It was nice knowing they were safe at night, just one room away. They were in my husband’s office though, so he got tired of it pretty quick!

That reminds me - I was new to chickens last year and the brooder was in the spare bathroom in the guest bedroom. I was not aware of chicken math... We went to the store and got 2 Black Australorps. One died 🥺
The following week we got 7 Golden Comets. My husband saw how sad I was when I lost the chick so that was OK.
The lady at the store said they have more coming in next week. I told hubby that the breeds coming were ones that I were looking at. So we went and got 6 more - 2 each of Rhode Island Reds, Silver laced wyandottes, and Barred Rocks.
The spare bathroom was full of chickens and that point so I had to stop. We asked people to hold off on visiting until mid-April since the chickens didn't like sharing the facilities.
It took me the entire weekend to clean up after we set them out in the coop but after that I missed being able to just walk down the hall and hang out with them for a bit all through out the day. :D

My chickens are all back to normal today; no giant surprise eggs laid this morning. 7 nice eggs from 7 nice hens.

You weren't abrupt at all, so no worries! POL chickens sounds much easier. I raised my chicks in the house last year and it was a real pain. Very messy too! From now on any chicks I get will be brooded outdoors. LOL
Yeah my DH is good to me but I don’t want to push it too far!
Sorry to hear about your loss.
Thank you! She was a nice bird!
