They live a good life and die quickly & painlessly, that is all one can hope for.I love the ISA Brown hens. They are great egg layers. But I am convinced they have a life of only 2 winters where I live. I have to retire (freezer camp) them before their third winter. If not, they just find ways to die anyway.
I did rehome my rooster to a animals rescued, I took him back a month later & found out he was very sick due to lack of care. Long story short, I had him euthanized. My Isa Brown hens suffered through their reproductive ill health, so I learned to love them with the time I have with them, and give them a quick and painless dead. I still not able to do the deed myself, the Vet still the place.
