How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

So for 25 hens what's the usual?????
0 to 25, possibly the rare 26

It depends on many factors. One of which is the breed. Some, on average, may only be 2 or 3 a week, others as many as 5 or 6. Some will take more days off in the winter, others not so much. And if a girl goes broody and thinks it is her job to hatch pine shavings, a big fat ZERO!

What breed would be the best for laying?????
My Australorps are champs, the smaller started laying on 11/26/12 and has laid 69 in those 105 days. She's only skipped 4 days in the last 23. Her eggs are usually around the upper end of USDA Medium. The larger started on 1/3/13 and has laid 48 in those 67 days. She only skipped 6 days in her first 27 days of laying. She's slacked some since (but she deserved a break

) laying one every 3 days (including the massive 90 gram egg on the fifth) but she laid three straight ending yesterday (haven't been out since this morning to check). She has never laid anything smaller than Large. They are usually at the upper end or into XLarge.

My Easter Eggers are also averaging about 5 a week since they started. One usually lays an "almost Large" the other the upper range of Large.

I get the impression the red and black sex links are egg machines.

My girls decided to take Sunday off
Not one egg today

Bummer. I've not had a "no egg" day but I have 4 times as many girls as you do and had a 1 egg day AFTER they had all started laying. Serious slacking that day!

6 out of nine hens. Maybe 7 my hen Delores likes to lay at the neighbors house. I don't think she gets it that I am trying to sell eggs here lol

Do you sell eggs to your neighbor? Maybe Delores is just offering free delivery of the freshest eggs possible!

5 yesterday

3/3 AGAIN

Ok, I know it's not a lot, compared to some of you big producers out there, but it's more than we can eat, so we have very happy friends and neighbours at the moment.

Yes bruceha2000 - the red and black sex links are pure egg machines - Rusty and Blackie very rarely miss a day at the moment. My marans (Cinders) is less consistent, but still manages 4 or 5 a week. Not bad for pet chickens

I'm not going to compare the number of eggs I get from 12 to the number people that have hundreds or thousands of chickens get in a day. I would say that 100% is good no matter if you have 1 chicken or 100 chickens!

8 from 12 today. Now that the Faverolles have kicked their broody habit, I'm hoping they will soon get back on their "egg task". Then I can hope for my FIRST 100% day.

Today was three for three
dunno abouttomorrow
the old hens I had stopped laying when summer arrived year before ;last, and suddenly starting getting 1 egg every so often
gave em away after the present ones were big enough to put in the yard
looks like I may get an average of 5 to 6 eggs per hen, per week
That is If Austra keep up the pace now.
Anyway, I have over 1 1/2 dozen, and fixed 6 pickled eggs saturday.

And of course pride comes before a fall - having boasted of my girls' recent 100% record, today only 2/3 (and one of those really late this afternoon)!
It's probably because we've had a few lovely warm days, and today has been grey, cold with a biting wind, and they've forecast minus temperatures and snow for tomorrow - the girls have obviously seen the forecast and aren't happy!
