How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

3/3 for me yesterday. I'm thinking I really need an EE from all these posts of pretty eggs!
I would like a couple of them myself.
My friend had one or two that laid blue, almost green as I recall, eggs. Sure did look nice.
But I get chicks from the feed store, and it is hard to tell what kind they are, other than their color, and that can change as they get bigger.
Except, I can tell that some are evidently Cochin by their feathered feet.
I will see about getting 4 chicks, er pullets, and one "mill run" which is most likely to be a rooster.
My neighbor and his brother bought the last of the easter chicks, mill run, one year, and every last one was a rooster.
I had one, was a barred rock, but he became a fried rock after he got out into the donkey pen and fried himself trying to get back into the chicken yard with "His Girls".
I need to fix a bigger yard for them, and roof it over with chicken wire to keep them from flying out.
Also to help keep the wild birds from coming in for feed.

Everyone doing well today! I got eleven from fourteen hens. That's our best egg count so far!

Good stuff - they must be enjoying the new feeding regime

Well done to your girls!

So EEs what color eggs do they lay I know blue green anything else?????

I have 4 EEs. They lay the blue and the green in this photo... some EEs lay darker or brighter shades of Blue or Green, some lay a khaki color, as Bruce said, it depends on their individual heritage as to what egg color they will lay.

R. EEs expensive???????

I got my EE chicks for 2.00 a piece at my local Feed Store. You might run into a more expensive price from an Ameraucana or Araucana breeder... but Hatchery EE's like mine are no more expensive than a Wyandotte or Leghorn.

I thought that chickens layed two to three times a week????

Of course it depends on the breed, the time of year and the age of your hen, but as you can see... EEs lay more than 2 or 3 a week.

My 3 EEs are all different. One has more reddish/brown feathers (more like a female pheasant). One has much more slate grey. One we called Ducky because as a teenager she looked more like a male mallard in coloration. My sister has a few from the same batch that are mainly white with some rust color. From my 3 hens, I get 2 blue eggs currently averaging 60+ grams and 1 blue/green egg averaging 54 grams. They are currently laying 4 eggs per week and it has been pretty cold in Michigan! I'd recommend them as a nice addition to your flock.
