I would like a couple of them myself.3/3 for me yesterday. I'm thinking I really need an EE from all these posts of pretty eggs!
My friend had one or two that laid blue, almost green as I recall, eggs. Sure did look nice.
But I get chicks from the feed store, and it is hard to tell what kind they are, other than their color, and that can change as they get bigger.
Except, I can tell that some are evidently Cochin by their feathered feet.
I will see about getting 4 chicks, er pullets, and one "mill run" which is most likely to be a rooster.
My neighbor and his brother bought the last of the easter chicks, mill run, one year, and every last one was a rooster.
I had one, was a barred rock, but he became a fried rock after he got out into the donkey pen and fried himself trying to get back into the chicken yard with "His Girls".
I need to fix a bigger yard for them, and roof it over with chicken wire to keep them from flying out.
Also to help keep the wild birds from coming in for feed.
