I've had my 5 girls for almost 5 days. I had my first egg the morning after I got them. It was a jumbo lt. olive green egg from my only Americauna. The next day I had a smaller tan egg. I'm not sure who laid that. Yesterday I had another egg from my Americauna. Nothing yet today. 3 eggs in almost 5 days from 5 hens. Is that good? (I have an Americauna, a Wyandotte, a Barred Rock, and 2 Rhode Island Reds.) maybe they are still settling in? They were born in March of this year.

It takes chickens a bit to settle into a new place, stress of moving and new environment.

My 5 girls usually give 3 eggs a day. Today not so good with 1...

Ah, I am notoriously impatient. I was afraid I was doing something wrong despite my research. Thank you. I know there will be off days, I hope your girls lay better tomorrow ... And mine too

I'm so excited that we had 12 eggs out of our 17 ladies!! Whoo hoo!

we've got 6 white leghorns and they are all finally laying! so we've gotten 6 a day the last few days.
maybe this is an off the thread question but i notice that their eggs seem pretty watery when i've fried them. the whites are cooked firm but leave behind water. something you don't get from storebought and ive not noticed this with eggs weve bought from other farmers. is this normal or could we be doing something differently to avoid this? anyone experience this with their eggs?
