9/9 yesterday. One of my girls had the day off, but one of my Leghorns laid two eggs in one day!

How do you suspect she laid two in one day???? The cycle for egg development is 24 hours. Did you actually OBSERVE this rare phenomena? If so I would suggest watching her as she may have skipped the day before as one was stuck and todays developing perhaps helped it along. Or more of your hens laid than you thought.

Oh yes, also possible they had hidden one egg from yesterday and unhid it today. I had mine do that once. Only had one laying and after what I thought was 4 days of nothing there were five eggs in the nest one day. So she had to be hiding then brought all the clutch together.... which I promptly took in.
