Still 2/7... But after 3 days of laying, my BR Maude gave me a normal size egg

1/6 17 week EE pullets, first egg from them today, and another hanging out in the nests, and scratching for all she's worth, grabbed the 4 eggs in there before they got broken

Just the one today, but Veera broke her previous record by 11 grams. She laid a 47g egg this morning!

This topic won't seem to let me start a new thread. My question is - how long does it actually take for a chicken to lay? I have one that sits on the nest for a long time. Should I be concerned? I lost one recently to what I think may have been egg binding. They are 2-3 year old Australorps. I get 2/3 or 3/3 most days.

Different hens have different styles - some will sit in a nest box for hours just thinking about laying an egg while others will hop in at the last minute, fluff some bedding and drop an egg. Since you are seeing fairly regular production I would not be concerned.
