Awwww..... I just found out one of my silkies is a rooster so I hope to figure out how to hatch fluffy baby eggs.

I got 2 eggs. But someone flipped the nesting box over and one cracked. But I have 2 official layers

I think all the hub-bub with the new chicks and the divider I put in the coop for their brooding area got them out of sorts.

Oh, and one more hatched last night, so 7 chicks from 10 eggs.

One egg left. I'm guessing it's no good but will wait another day or so.

I've been out of town since Wednesday & just got in today. When I asked my daughter how many eggs she collected, she said LOTS!

19/23 no supplemental lighting and some are molting and I have bunch trying to be broody.....winter is comin!

0... temperatures started to drop from -9C when I got home throughout the night, their water was frozen although the coop did feel warmer then the outside. Woke up to -19C this morning

I suspect no eggs this morning. Supposed to get warmer again next week, but I am installing the ceramic heat lamp for cold nights like this.

I'm still getting 10 eggs every day from about 12 hens. They are getting about 11 hours of light per day. There are 5 more hens that stopped laying (4 are molting and the other one is on vacation I guess) but the other 12 keep going strong.
