How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

3/3 today. Since they have all been laying I get 3 eggs per day and about every 7th day get only 2.

My 5 girls are gradually coming on line. I've been getting 1 egg every other day, but since Christmas Eve, I've been getting 2 eggs a day. I weigh them. The first eggs weigh 1 ⅜ ounce, then advance in size in ⅛ ounce increments. Today I got a 1 ⅜ and a 1 ¾ egg! That means that a new hen came online. Yay! I know my Delaware is laying, and my 2 black Australorps. That leaves the GLW and the EE. I am not complaining!

Blooie, were your jumbo eggs double yolkers? I ate the 83 gram egg this morning and it was a double.
Actually the 112 gram one was a full double egg - double outer white, double inner white, and double yolk, with only one of those white-stringy-things-I-can-never-remember-the-name-of-but-starts-with-a-"ch" between them! It was physically the larger looking of the two eggs. The 123 gram one looked smaller but it was denser, if that makes any sense. For those of you who have seen these photos before, my apologies for the repeats.

The larger egg weighed less than the smaller one.

Yeah, that carton's not gonna close, and most of those were nice sized eggs, large to extra large in size.

Yep, that's a big egg!

I nicked the yolk with a shard of shell, but this was the 112 gram egg. You can make out the one white stringy-thingy connecting them.

The 112 gram monster double egg.

I grow as many containers that will fit under a 4 foot 2 bulb fluorescent light fixture. It all depends on how much light they can get.If you do grow them make sure to water from the bottom and let it wick the water up.If they are tightly packed together and watered from the top they can get mold at the base.

Thanks for the explanations, I have read on how to do it, my question was more how much of the dried grains do you start with?
