How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

We have had 3 so far out of 6 hens, but 3 are new to the flock and only 1 of the new girls were laying when we got her but she has gone off the lay as i think the stress of being at the bottom of the pecking order has affected her? Is that possible?

Things have been sparse but today got 4 when we have been getting 1.

We have 1 retired lady, 5 who just finished a molt, 8 who are just coming to POL and our 1 pullet who has been faithfully laying all winter. One was a pullet egg so hopefully her hatchmTes are coming in soon to join her.:weee

8/23 this cold snap has affected us the most so far this year. Got up to a balmy 33 today, the sun was out all day. The gang sunbathed which was good for those suffering with a touch of frost bite. By day's end our alpha roo's wattles had a lot more color in them again. So was happy for that...cold heading east.

Sorry I was MIA..one of our friends passed away (RIP) yesterday and we are trying to re-home a lot of livestock. I'm taking the one lone duck, and am helping to find homes for 25 hens, 10 goats, 25 rabbits, and 8 horses. This is a difficult task in the coldest week of the middle of the winter, especially for homing the horses. Most people put just enough hay up to feed the horses they currently own, and do not have extra feed for any additional horses.

I have not seen the duck yet, unkown if it is a drake or a hen, and I do not know the age or breed either, I'm just hoping it's healthy.

Glad that your flock is doing better. I still need to look my flock over closer to check for frostbite, I was just to busy yesterday to do it.

How is the waterer working out?

I cannot keep the wild turkeys out of here, it's cold and they are hungry. This particular flock must have been being fed at someone elses farm because they come running to me when I come out of the house and the follow me around cackling away for free food.

Chicken:
16/27/30

duck:
0/3/3

My ducks were shivering very badly this morning, I gave them a heat lamp in their covered run, and they stayed close to it all day, so I set them up to have one at night. They seem so much happier.

How is everyone holding up with this cold weather?

How cold has it been where you are?

How are your livestock doing?

What have you done differently because of the cold weather?

Thank you!
