I have 4 hens, and they all are laying. I'm averaging 3 eggs a day now (some days 2, some days 4). I get one extra large dark brown one with speckles from my welsummer, one large olive green from the EE (an ameracauna mutt), one medium to small turquoise from the aracauna and one medium sized light brown from my little black mutt hen. The little black hen (we named her granny) seems to be my most consistent layer.
Makes for an interesting collection of eggs in the fridge with all those colors and sizes
I have 16 hours of light in the coop and run a day with the automatic light I rigged up and the laying is pretty consistent now.
For the last few days I have been getting fewer than normal eggs and one day a shell-less egg. Today 19 eggs from 18 girls. When I checked this morning no eggs in the nest boxes. When I went out a little bit ago I found 19 eggs. That means one layed two eggs today!
I am so jealous, lol. My chickens took a month to two month hiatus and are just beginning to lay again. I got 5 eggs today, with 13 hens and this is the most we have gotten since the hiatus in one day.
