8/24, well my girls finally hit the wall today with these cold temps. They did pretty good all week, but they couldn't go any longer I rebooted them with a nice warm bowl of oatmeal before they headed off to the roost.

@COChix , I use a 5 gal bucket w/ horizontal nipple waterers around it all same height and a deicer cable just like @WVDoug . Temps have dropped to -15 with highs only in teens for a week now. Each morning I take a 2 gal bucket with warm water and dump in to fill. So far no freezing and no real humidity issue inside the coop. I have a "V" cut out of lid for cord with a 2x12 for weight and a traffic cone to discourage roosting. It looks funny but it works.

Thank you that is great that you have not had freezing water during that cold. So I am sold that is what I will be using, you use the same heater as Doug? Also thanks for the warm wishes regarding surgery.

15/23 not sure we will get anymore as sunset in about 45 minutes.
