I was right on time!!!! I went to lock my birds just just in time to see two things...
#1... One of my girls to give me an egg

#2.... And by far the most important....l A FREAKING FOX CLIMBING MY FENCE TO TRY TO GET MY GIRLS!!!!

Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition!

Thanks! Her comb looks more like a rose comb I think (I don't know a lot about rose combs though so...) Same goes for color. When it's not raining so much I'll try to get a better pic. (Hopefully she'll let me get kinda close...she's very shy)

I know right!?!? At least your girl knew well enough to go into a building even if it didn't belong to her...initially lol

Oh a rose comb! She is pretty, I like the dark tail feathers. Your other girl is a beauty too.



True true true, she just took over that prime real estate! I guess she figured it was "loft space" that the ducks don't even use, so she just moved right in!

Sadly yes...

I found those first few eggs hidden everywhere in that room... Bad part is... I found one almost a month later hidden between boxes that I was using to let them roost on... That one made a fast trip to the trash...

Lord have mercy...LOL... At least you don't have to go outside for fresh breakfast eggs in the morning!!!

Five eggs plus i found a rubber egg in the bottom of the coop. Not sure who laid it. It is between Cecily and Sassy. It was the color of Cecilys eggs....but i wasnt sure if an egg like that would be its usual color.

Nope, not yet! I just got into the habit of adding Scout with a plus sign when I wasn't sure what she was yet, him or her! Then because so many people use, for example, 8/10/12, meaning eight eggs out of 10 layers out of 12 total hens, I just kept it there! Believe me, when Scout finally lays an egg I'll probably post about it in as many places as possible!! Silly little chicken has fans all over the world!

I noticed that you'd visited Scout's page and left a very nice comment. Thank you! Glad you enjoyed the story- I'd have rather read it than lived it but I've learned so much from taking care of her.
