Awww, I'm sorry for your loss.   
I feel a little foolish walking around my yard with a rifle on my shoulder, but after losing three hens to a fox Friday, I'll be out there when the chickens are.
Hopefully soon I can afford an electric net fence.

Them foxes are such a menace I give a friend of mine two chickens and a duck well foxes tried to get em thank goodness for that electric fence lol we did try to hunt for the fox but with too much acreage to cover was hard to find.

7/9 which is typical of this bunch. I usually get 7-8 per day, with 4 about every fourth day. Can't complain; I'm getting about 3-4 dozen per week. Considering it's just me, I'm drowning in the suckers. I have 2 people who buy them, but they have very small families. I give the rest away. Seems every time I get them all out of the fridge, they pile right back up again. Funny how, when I was dreaming about having chickens, the possibility of being overrun with eggs never dawned on me. But, every time I buy chicks, they're just so darn cute, I come home with more than planned.

The sweet dulcet sounds of 'peep, peep, peep' coming from the nest under the broody. No yet so were not out of the woods yet but still those first little peeps are AWESOME!!!!!
