How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

That is a really good day! Give those ladies a pat on the back for me. Maybe have a couple of them come council my hens on how it's done.

That is a great day :)

0/0/20 still.

My ladies are all 9-11 weeks old. We bought 20 of them hoping to have at least 16 make it long enough to lay eggs (and be NOT ROOSTER enough to lay eggs). I'm quite certain that not a single one of our farm-store purchased pullet turned out to be roos and I'm also pretty certain that none of them are roosters.

And...we wait. Still waiting.

Laying chickens usually start laying at 16 weeks old, and dual purpose usually start around 18-20 weeks

Hi guys... Please say hello to Pip Sqeak...

This poor chick had it's leg jammed behind its head and it couldn't zip out of its shell yesterday. After 24 hours it's cheeps got softer and I had to take maters into my own hands. 12 hours later I've introduced my pint sized runt to the group. His/her mom will come by later to take all but a few home with her so I'll make sure I get updates... I almost want to keep this one but they were not my eggs...

Olgreymare, I thought some of my chickens were never going to lay. My best Orpington was close to seven months old and my red sex links some of them were seven months old.I have a barred rock EE and a what looks to be pure barred rock and they both started laying on the same day and they were like 20 weeks old. Seems like the ones I have now are in a bigger hurry to lay eggs. I can't seem to catch them all the time when they're laying so that I can see who's laying what. I've had three new eggs this week to blue and one light brown. I'm guessing one of the blue is from my Americana mix, and the other one I have laying a blue egg is my Leghorn EE. I went from having maybe three eggs or four on a lot of days to now up to seven then eight and on rare occasions nine out of 10 layers. I think a couple of my one-year-olds are getting a little lazy. Aren't chickens fun?!
