My ladies are all 9-11 weeks old. We bought 20 of them hoping to have at least 16 make it long enough to lay eggs (and be NOT ROOSTER enough to lay eggs). I'm quite certain that not a single one of our farm-store purchased pullet turned out to be roos and I'm also pretty certain that none of them are roosters.
And...we wait. Still waiting.
Laying chickens usually start laying at 16 weeks old, and dual purpose usually start around 18-20 weeks
