Two of eight are now caring for 4 almost 3 week old chicks. Wondering when the mommas will lay again.

Usually when the chicks don't need the mama's any more or around 5 months after the chicks hatch

I'm guessing you mean 5 weeks, not months, right?
In my experience it's about 6 weeks or so. One may step away and let the other care for them sooner than that.
