2/2 the ladies are pulling their weight but the temps have been wonderfully cool in the low eighties.
@gander007 I enjoy reading about you different breeds egg laying abilities.
They (4 golden laced Wyndottes, 4 Barred Rock (around 20 weeks old) 3 Buff Orpingtons (18 or 19 weeks) and 4 Leghorns (16 or 17 weeks)) just started laying 2 weeks ago and we got 4 so far today. been getting a couple of white eggs from the young leghorns for about a week now. that's average over the last 3 days. I figure in the next few days there be lots more.
Maddawg, my barred rock chickens started laying around 20 weeks, but my buff Orpington was 7 months. My Leghorn pullet started laying at 17 weeks. She is by far the best layer I have. She never misses a day. I'm hoping her eggs will start getting bigger pretty soon. She's an Ameraucana/leghorn cross and lays a pretty blue egg every day. I have more that should be laying any day, it's always an exciting time waiting for new eggs. I'm sure I don't have to tell you that.
