How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

I only got 4 eggs out of 8 hens and have been since they have started laying in Oct. I have 3 buff orpingtons, 2 easter eggers, 1 RIR and 2 Plymouth Rocks. I got the easter eggers to see if I could get something besides white and brown eggs. And sure enuf one of them is laying a green egg. However, I only see a green egg about once every 2 weeks. Is this normal? Or is she laying somewhere else just to live up to her name. I live on 6 acres, mostly wooded and my wife and I have walked the woods many times searching for easter eggs :) to no avail.

When my Easter eggers first started laying, they would lay an egg every 3 or 4 days. Definitely not every 2 weeks! You could try keeping her coop bound for a week to see how many she is actually laying in that time frame. Sometimes they need that coop lockdown to help them get the idea of where they are suppose to lay.

I have two EE pullets that have been laying for approx. a month or so. The one lays a brown egg and I've only gotten a couple of eggs. The other who lays a blue/green egg lays 1-2 times a week. The old EE girl lays about every 2nd day. When I got my first 14 chickens (assorted) I thought they were laying because they had been moved. They had laid in every nook and cranny and there were eggs everywhere..lol!

We have 2 EE's that are 9 months old. They have been laying for about two months now. They each lay about 5 eggs per week. One lays a blue egg and the other lays a green egg. We have 8 nesting boxes for our 22 hens and the EE's always lay eggs in nests that already have eggs in them. When we were gathering eggs in the morning and afternoon, we didn't see the blue or green eggs very often until we found three different nests in various places throughout the property. Now that we have only been gathering eggs in the late afternoon, the EE's seem to be laying in the nesting boxes regularly.
