How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

I just have a question. This is the first time I had chickens. I was told I bought 3 hens and 1 rooster. I was getting 3 eggs a day until this past Friday. I am now getting 4 a day. Can a hen lay 2 eggs a day?

If you post a recent picture of your birds on the What Breed/Gender board, there are lots of people who will be happy to help sort out if you have a male or if they are all pullets. Usually, by the time pullets are ready to lay, the cockerels will look very obviously different.

2/7 from 2+ year hens.
8/8 from this spring's pullets
2/10 from early summer's pullets
0/6 from late summer birds.

to early to tell in the east should get 3 from my ( 3 reds ) around 11 or so......i'm still waiting on my 2 b/rocks to lay ,they where introduced to the flock.

Quote: If you can, get really good pictures of the one in question (comb, full body from the side including legs). It would help identify rooster versus hen. I have a buff orpington that was suppose to be a hen and "she" turned out to be a he. I have an EE that looked a lot roo-ish to me, but she is very much a she. I also thought my Ghost girl was a boy, but it turned out she is a leghorn so she just has a super big comb (and she was the first to start laying, witnessed it myself).

3/3 but I'm wondering if I have a 4th layer. Mildred is rhode island red or production red and lays a nice brown with dark speckles. Betty is a black astrolorp and has not layed yet. The brown egg I got today is slightly larger them normal for mildred no speckles and layed in the wrong box, mildred always lays in 1 and this was in 2 no other girls layed at the same time for her to choose a different box

Today's egg on the left, mildred's from 2 days ago on the right. Are they of the same hen or possibly another girl?
