So ...all of you that are doing so well, extoll the virtues of your methods! We're all ears!

For the rest of us, we can only offer ideas on why our girls are not in it to win it....

I think my problems started when I changed up their feed, andbarged in and added lights right at bed time ....... coulda thought that through a bit better.......

sa:

1 of how many? How old and what breed(s)?

I'm trying to get perspective on this ...... I got 1 of 9 yesterday, and that's a big fat cluebat to the noggin that I'm doing somethin' not right ........

9 eggs today from 18 that should be laying.
1 coop has extra light and the other coop does not have extra light. Usually the extra light coop puts out more eggs, but not the last 2 days. The last 2 days the unlighted coop has done better.
The lighted coop has rhode island reds, black astrolorps, and black sex links. The unlighted coop has 5 EE's, 2 rhode island reds & 1 black Penedesenca. I have another unlighted coop with 1 black penedesenca but I didn't check for an egg today. I have another coop with 3 white leghorns that I just got at Christmas, they were sold as 5 to 9 month olds & have pale combs but today I got 2 eggs from the 3 of them. I didn't think they would be laying yet, so that was a nice surprise.

I got my first eggs on the 21st and have been getting 1 most days since out of 4 birds. 3 buff orps and a barred rock, today I figured out which of my orphs is laying. The BR and one of the BOs are squatting and very close to laying but the last girl hasnt even gotten a red comb yet. They're all 34/35 weeks.
