Lol!! 4 laying hens and 5 eggs today!!!

Chickens ventured out this afternoon, briefly. I put on my coat and shoes and rushed out to toss some scratch grains in the run. By the time I got out there, they were back in coop. Temp 24F windy and sunny. I coaxed them back out, but as soon as the scratch was gone, back into the coop they went.
Up to six more inches of snow tonight. Warmer tomorrow, into the 40s, yea.

9/11!!!
So my Copper Marans started laying at 5 months! Not a very dark egg, but she was kind of a rescue. Im just glad she has gained weight and learned how to walk right, she is mising part of one toe though. She gets lots of attention and is so thankful and sweet. The girls are very good with her too

ALSO my Olive Egger has apparently been laying for a while! I thought those eggs belonged to my duck! Lol she has been molting and not laying, so when these eggs were popping up in the yard and she was guarding them i figured they belonged to her and just changed color and shrank after molt! Recently we added another nest box to the coop and the eggs started showing up in there. I didnt put it past my jealous duck to take over the box and lay in there. Today i finally busted my sneaky Olive Egger laying...heres the kicker... she lays gorgeous PINK EGGS! I really wanted a dark olive egg, but i like this color too. The picture of course doesnt show how pink it really is

Just shoveled my way to coop, glad my coop is only 25' from steps of rear deck.
At 5am no snow, no wind, temp 31F, scattered scratch on ground. 10am over a foot of snow

24F and windy.

Yesterday was 55F and mostly sunny. Chickens in coop and tell me to close the door, when I checked for eggs. Will not even venture out under coop. For the first time I had to scatter scratch grains in the coop. I gave them 2 scoops, double the usual amount, hopefully to prevent boredom. Up to 20" of snow expected. When I was shoveling around the coop, I heard Thunder, yes we are experiencing Thundersnow. First time I experienced it outside, it rolled on for 10 to 15 seconds, Amazing.

Only 7 eggs today but 1 was ginormous!

Fortunately we only got 1" of powdery snow last night, but they are predicting another Noreaster tomorrow. But instead of all snow like last Thursday, they are predicting a mixed bag of snow changing to sleet, to freezing rain and back to snow. Ouch.
Yeah @Duckee my girls are amazing. I call them my little Pez dispensers. After seeing another member mention that in a post several times. I might possibly get an egg to pop out by pumping their tail.
