Got back from Branson today. Hubby had not collected eggs at all. So, I got 33 eggs today :lau That's for Friday, Saturday and Sunday! On the sad end, 3 chickens were killed while I was gone. Hubby didn't even realize it. :he 1 chicken was dead and half eaten down by back fence, another chicken was dead inside the coop. I think she must have taken some internal damage. She had blood by 1 eye and on her beak/mouth, and her comb was practically white, but she had no other apparent injuries. The 3 chicken is just gone, however I did find a trail of feathers leading over the back fence. :he

So sorry to hear that. That is our constant fear. A mink family got into our neighbor's coop and killed 18 chickens in one night. What do you suspect for your incident?

I actually just found out what it was! I was in the back of the house getting ready for bed when I heard a noise outside coming from that coop's area. We let the dog out and followed her with a flashlight and armed hubby. We found a big ole coon INSIDE THE COOP. We managed to get it where hubby could take a safe shot. So no more coon attacking, at least, not that coon. Now I have to find out how such a big coon made it inside and fix that problem!!

Hope it's a loner. Good luck!
