I only got 22 eggs last week, the previous record was 25 two weeks earlier. Well it was the darkest week of the year.
4/5 so far today. Lovey was fidgeting around in the coop at 9am, looking toward nests, when I was filling the feeder, but ran back outside to search for seeds I tossed in the pen. GC

I bet Lovely leaves you an egg later. I've got some that will stick to the nest at treat time if the egg is imminent but will rush out for goodies if not.

I was under the assumption that chickens lay less eggs in winter. At least that's how it has been the past two winters for us.
Now our 5 Isa Browns layed 25 eggs in the past 5 mornings... Impressive! And never been seen before...at least in our coop

Yes chickens lay less in the winter unless you force them with ~14 hours of light every day. Oddly they don't need 14 hours to start back up come mid to late February.

But IN GENERAL spring chicks will lay well through their first winter. Tell that to my current batch of 6 girls

Mine are so scattered should I lay or not got several went through molt first hard one now back in feathers keep going out there cleaning think they would give eggs for the meal worms oatmeal yogurt
