4/4 again today - one was a bit odd again (same odd as a couple of other times) - slightly rough shell with poor colouring - 2 darker areas with the rest a bit paler than normal!

News of the day is that Doris the slightly Dim silky seems to have gone broody! She has been sat in there all afternoon so far as I can tell. she has been sat on her egg and someone elses - not sure exactly how many hours but could be up to 8 I guess as I was out all morning. Are those eggs going to be OK to use?

Do you have a rooster? If not, nothing will happen because there is nothing to develop. Eat away.

No no rooster here! It was more in terms of temperature - yikes those sat on eggs get hot!

So any eggs from the same day will be OK even if they have been hot for a few hours?

I'll get her some hatching eggs to put under her once I know she is serious so I'll leave it a few days (which will work well as I can see what I got from the chicks that are due tomorrow / Thursday ).

4 out of 7 including 1 Cornish. The Cornish, though I saw her sitting in the nest earlier, refuses to lay in the nest. Watching bits of the chicken activity is interesting. My rooster will sit in the nests for a few minutes too lol

Yep, if she is serious you can try slipping the new peeps under her in the black of night. If she doesn't attack them she'll wake up in the morning having hatched her eggs and be a happy mama.

They come out hot Yeah they will be fine.
