That is so cute!

DH is chaffing at spending more coop building time this year (spoilsport) as we have so much building to do with the house so I'm thinking I may be using my little coops longer term than I thought! I went down to my neighbours the other day and they actually have a series of small coops for thier large flock. They have 40+ chickens plus ducks / turkeys / geese that all free range their garden all day together then they all go home to thier own coops with in the smaller run so I might be doing that for a bit at least!

This is the ones I picked up they called the ameracauna I say EE
got 2 they bonded right away huddling together had a heat lamp on them
shut it off so warm they really do not need it.. bought the

at auction added 4 barred close to lay try and bring my egg numbers up getting 6 or 8 a day out of 16 birds

14/16 and my little EE bantam finally laid!!! It’s been 2-3 weeks. Slight chance it’s a fairy egg from another EE but I won’t know until the morning for breakfast.

2/2 today although one I found in the garden

Also lost an egg. Not sure what is going on with my broody young girl, I decided to take 6 and put int he incubator this morning as she keeps not tucking them all under her so I find them at the side cool (candled and all 6 look good though so she can't be too bad!). This afternoon I got her back in her little broody box and she carefully got on the eggs - a while lat4er she got off again (the heat maybe) and there was a broken one - I'm guessing a mistake but I have taken them all to the incubator now and given her a plaster one. Totally not the scenario I wanted as she has been doing so well and not sure what to do from here.

A broody can be difficult and no two are alike I grew up with hens raising their peeps and Ma wanted to replace older birds
