We are due the same here today tomorrow so I'll see what it does to my girls! We have had a few days like that - they seemed OK and just hung in the shade which there is lots of in the run and garden. I haven't had to do other things (frozen water etc) but if we get towards 100 (which usually happens every summer at some point) I guess I'll need to do that!
Broody #1 decided to wean her 3.5 wk old chicks and lay an egg today. The temp was hot 93*
Has she left the chicks? My broody 1 has been laying for about a week however she is still doing her mama thing - the orp in particular is nearly as big as her (slike) but when I went to lock them up last night they were in bed and she somehow managed to have all 3 of them tucked under her :love

That is convenient. When Zorra raised a batch of chicks she kicked them to the curb the day she laid an egg about 2 months after getting them. One day she was calling them to food, the next she was chasing them away so she could get it :th

She won’t tuck them in anymore and she wants to perch with the rest of the flock. I guess it’s too hot to have babies under her.

16 hens and 16 eggs, a first from my girls. My two slackers are no longer slacking!

Another 3/3 day here - so hot (hit 40 c in the sun yesterday) but hasnt' seemed to put thme off thier stride, thier run is the coolest part of the garden.
Broody #2 (3 yr old RIR) that has 2 three week old chicks adopted the other two 3.5 week old chicks that was abandoned by Broody #1, couldn’t believe my eyes i didn’t think it was possible.
That is so cute! My silkies seem to co-parent a little bit - Hermione has had a go at me when I've touched Doris's chicks and made them squeak and Doris clucks at them all to come over (there is a month between them).
