How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

Oh crud only 5 yesterday and today there was one yesterday no shell broke in the nest but not eaten seems I have either 2 new layers or 2 banty in my main coop

3 today but there could be more. I didn't remember to put the cane bolt down on the barn door and the wind blew it shut. No telling how many girls had a need to lay and found somewhere else. HOPEFULLY if that happened it won't start a new trend.

3 eggs from 4 birds; one from a BO hen, olive egger pullet, and Easter egger pullet. My fourth bird, a barred rock hen, is molting (and is 3.5 years old), so I’m only getting an egg or two a week from her.

24 yesterday (hubby did not collect them on Saturday when I was out of town). He also did not lock up the chickens, so I lost 1 (luckily, only 1) to a predator.
Oh no that is so frustrating! I thought I remember you saying he was pretty good normally? Mind you it happens to all of us - I didn't lock mine up Sunday night and felt so bad (luckily they were all OK). The run door was open for freeranging as thye'd been out in the afternoon so my penance was they had all day in the garden and coming and pooping on my terrace :lau

Eek yes not the right time of year for easter egg hunting  That has happened a couple of times on my little broody coop too when I've forgotten and some wind has arrived (we usually have barely a gust!), one time there was a chick stuck in and mama out - luckily I had a feeling to go check. I always put the brick in front now!

Gosh those stories make me sound like the worst chicken owner :lau

Welcome to our eggy thread :frowLove your colour pallets - I'm aiming for a multi-couloured egg basket but only have my 3 original layers laying light brownish for the moment - Edwina my Araucana seems to be getting redder in the comb so hoping for my first blue egg very soon!

After having my first fairy fart egg last week there is another there this morning plus 1 but I can't remember if I checked yesterday so may not be from this morning.

Well today we had 11 & one weak shelled one that broke in the box. I think it may be one of my Buff Orpingtons who is consistently laying the thin shell eggs. It gets old having to clean out the nesting boxes frequently as they break more than half the time she lays!

And she has the same access to oyster shells as everyone else. I am looking forward to switching my main coop back to layer feed once the new pullets start laying. Obviously some girls don’t like eating their vitamins!

Been getting 6 /11 a day. I would think they all would be laying right now. I have been letting them free range since the heat has been back, been looking for nest around the farm but I'm terrible at finding them, my husband is good at finding them so I may need to send him on an egg hunt.

Thank you! I have only had light brown layers for years (BR and BO) but added olive and Easter egger chicks (one of each) this spring. My OE laid her first egg 8/15 (19 weeks old) and the EE laid her first egg just last week (23 weeks old). The addition of the olive and light green eggs to the basket makes the light brown eggs pop with more of a pinkish tone, so I am falling in love with all of my girls and their eggs all over again! We are in town so are limited on flock size, but would like to add a true blue and chocolate layer next.

right now I have 5 but one of them banty in the main coop need to figure that bird out
lost some good layers taking the wrong one

Weird - only 1 egg yesterday for the first time since they started laying. wondering if it was the heat (back up over 30), or the shortening days or maybe thinking about molting?

Haven't been down yet this morning.
